Internships

Organization: ASOC is the only non-profit environmental group in the United States that deals solely with the protection of Antarctica and the Southern Oceans. Current issues include implementation of the Environmental Protocol to the Antarctic Treaty, regulation of commercial tourism and bio-prospecting, protection of Lake Vostok, protection of the Southern Ocean marine ecosystem by stopping over-fishing and illegal fishing, and saving the Southern Ocean whale sanctuary that is regulated by the International Whaling Commission.

Intern Responsibilities: Our office is small, so we are looking for someone who can work independently and take on a lot of responsibility. Interns are usually assigned a major project to complete, and must be willing to assist in an administrative capacity.

Qualifications: Junior or senior with at least a 3.0 G.P.A. International studies and law students encouraged to apply. Strong interest in environmental protection helpful.

Compensation: Unpaid, academic credit available depending on your institution’s arrangements.
