Antarctic Storymap

The Antarctic Storymap came into being in 2021 to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the Protocol on Environmental Protection (the Madrid Protocol) and the 60th Anniversary of the Antarctic Treaty. 

By sharing this digital learning resource with our supporters, partners and the broader Antarctic community, ASOC fosters public awareness and understanding about the Antarctic Treaty System, Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meetings (ATCMs), the role of the Committee for Environmental Protection (CEP), and urgent issues facing the Antarctic region, including climate change and black carbon. 

The Storymap places the Antarctic present and future within a historical context and illustrates the ongoing global significance of the south polar region.
